Jose’ Rivera (BIG-MOE)

Lead Singer, Trumpet, Flugelhorn, Pocket Trumpet, Flute, Bongos, Congas, Timbales

The founder / leader of the MOES. Jose’ serves as lead vocalist for the MOES, doubling on trumpet, flugelhorn, pocket trumpet, flute, bongos, congas, timbales, and vibra-slap. Jose’s strong upper register horn playing dates back to his early days as Section Leader and Soloist for the United States Marine Corps, where he performed before Presidents and head of state between the years of 1972-1977. He traveled over 100,000 air miles a year touring the country and performing in 300 events per year. Along with sharing the stage with Trumpet greats Doc Severinsen at the Michigan State Fair and Al Hirt at the grand opening of the Superdome in New Orleans. Including Louie Bellson during Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  Since coming back to Chicago, Jose’ has appeared with many local bands, from jazz bands to big bands as well as rock bands, marching bands even drum & bugle corps until he founded and formed the group Five Guys Named Moe. His natural talent on vocals, multiple trumpets, flute and percussion stems from his strong Latin Origin with a wee bit of Irish. Jose’s influences on trumpet include Arturo Sandoval, Rafael Mendez, Maynard Ferguson, Bill Chase, Al Hirt, Doc Severinsen, and Herb Alpert. On percussion his influences have been Raul Rekow, Karl Perazzo, Armando Peraza and Joe Mesello.

Mike Gallemore (PLAY-MOE)

Guitars & Vocals

Mike is a lifetime musician of the Chicago Blues scene. Mike is primarily known for his guitar and song-writing skills. Mike also fronted his own band called “Red Hot and Blue” which frequently headlined Chicago Blues clubs such as Buddy Guy’s Legends and Koko Taylor’s on West Division.  Mike also shared the stage with Biscuit Miller, Shirley King (daughter of B B King), and Jimmy Johnson, The Legendary Sam Lay, Floyd Miles of the Gregg Allman Band, and Buddy Miles of The Band of Gypsies. Mike has released two CDs of his own material. In 1998 he released a solo effort entitled “Music Man” to rave reviews while continuing to appear with many other artists as a guest or on recordings as a supporting member of these road bands. Mike relocated to the East Coast in 2003 where he continues to perform in Blues circles with his band The Bad Hands of New Jersey. In addition, Mike toured and played with many Chicago Blues Artists, including Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Sam Lay, The Kinsey Report, Sam Cockrell and the Groove, Carl Weathersby, Buddy Miles, and Floyd Miles. Now Mike joins the amazing Jose’ Rivera 

Pat Carroll, (EL WHAM-MOE)

Drums & Vocals

On Drums and Vocals for the Moes is Pat Carroll.  Pat started drumming at the age of 7, taking lessons from his father, a marching drummer in WWII. Pat’s musical journey continues to be a lifelong passion. Pat studied privately with Jeffery Brown, a professor of music at Valparaiso University. Pat has attended many master classes by top drummers, including Carmine Appice, Simon Phillips, Kenny Aronoff and most notably, Larry Loundin with the Nashville Studio who was the drummer for Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers and Steve Perry. Pat has performed with many bands throughout the years all over Chicagoland. From being called to fill in with bands, to studio work. You can catch Pat’s work on YouTube with the band Chronic Edge. Pat is very proud of the work he did with them. Pat is well versed as a drummer covering many genres, including Jazz, Latin, Rock, Country, Rock, and Blues. Pat is also an experienced vocalist.  Performing both lead and background vocals. Pat’s drumming influences are Buddy Rich, Carmine Appice, Gene Krupa, and Ringo Starr. Along with the always entertaining Jose’ Rivera.

Danny Mac (MAC-MOE)

Bass & Vocals

On Bass and Vocals for the Moes is Danny Mac a 25-year show-business veteran and a favorite of the NWI Region and Chicagoland music scene. Danny has performed in several regional bands including Flashpoint, Musical Saw, The Robots, The Rolling Jones, Dave & Dave, Soulfinger, The Sharks, and The Midnight Ramblers. As well as providing countless fill-ins for many bands as well as a session player. Danny is a five-string hit man, doubling as a fretless assassin! In addition, Danny specializes in strong harmonies, and lead vocals. Danny’s genres of music are mainly Jazz, Swing, Blues, Funk Progressive, and Hard Rock. Danny’s diverse influences have formed his well-rounded 25-year music career. At the top are: Jack Bruce, Lemmy, Boz Burrell, Andy Fraser, Chris Squire, John Paul Jones, Greg Lake, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee, James Jamerson, Sting, Rocco Prestia, dUg Pinnick, Mel Schacher, Paul McCartney, Charles Mingus, Victor Wooten, Louis Johnson, Dave Hope, Tommy Shannon, Ross Valory, and Dusty Hill, and the always inspiring Jose’ Rivera

Rick Dees, (MEMPHIS- MOE)

Keyboards & Vocals

Rick has been playing in bands since Junior High School. Rick spent time in Memphis and Nashville performing with musicians like Warren Haynes and Smoky Greenwell in the Smokey Greenwell Blues Band. Toured with the band Asylum all over the country. Came back to Indiana to play with local bands like the Sounds of Santana along with several other bands. Rick’s influences are Little Richard, Leon Russell, John Lord, Greg Rolie and now Rick is with the entertaining showman Jose Rivera.
